The Challenge

Nirmaan’s AWS infrastructure faced scalability issues with a single Amazon EC2 instance hosting both the application and database, exposing data to risks. The absence of managed database solutions, monitoring, backups, and threat detection left the environment vulnerable to breaches and inefficiencies, requiring a full re-architecture.

Solutions

• Implemented a multi-tier architecture with separate subnets for application and database layers, ensuring better resource segregation and enhanced security.
• Migrated the database from a standalone Amazon EC2 instance to Amazon RDS for MySQL with a Multi-AZ setup to improve availability and manageability.
• Deployed Amazon EC2 instances in a custom Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) with public and private subnets to control ingress and egress traffic.
• Configured AWS CloudTrail and Amazon CloudWatch for real-time activity monitoring, system metrics, and centralized logging.
