The Challenge

The customer hosts their applications and SQL/MySQL databases on Ctrls and Netmagic Datacenter. They have 5 servers hosting their application and database on the same server and one dedicated server for storing images in .png/jpeg format. They face challenges with load balancing, autoscaling, and a lack of archival storage solutions in their current colocation data centers.

Solutions

  • Proposed a comprehensive solution focusing on cost optimization, operational efficiency, and scalable infrastructure on AWS cloud.
  • Created and migrated applications to 2 Windows EC2 instances and deployed 1 CentOS EC2 instance for image storage within 7 days.
  • Integrated Load Balancer and set up Auto-Scaling Group infrastructure within 9 days.
  • Executed on-prem-AWS migration plan, enabled Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring, and implemented AWS CloudTrail for user activity monitoring.
  • Tested accessibility and performance of AWS services post-migration, provided KT for AWS account management, and updated necessary AWS service endpoints in the application code.
  • Configured custom Amazon VPC, migrated servers and databases, created Amazon S3 buckets for Archival data, and enabled MFA to delete protection for Amazon S3 buckets.
  • Encrypted data at rest, scheduled backup plans, configured Load balancer, Autoscaling, and Amazon CloudWatch Alarms for server utilization.
  • Successfully migrated servers in Phase 1, ensuring a highly scalable and secure application infrastructure.

Successfully migrated critical applications and databases to Amazon EC2 instances, achieving a 70% increase in system reliability, 35% faster query response times, 90% test success rate, and 20% cost savings.
