Ultraviolette faced challenges in building a real-time analytics solution to handle 4TB of monthly JSON data from their E-Vehicles. Scaling their system to manage high data volumes, complex queries, and real-time dashboards leads to performance issues. They also struggled with data management, integration, retention, and cost optimization.
• Vehicle data is routed to Amazon MSK via AWS IoT Core.
• AWS Lambda converts compressed binary data to JSON and pushes it to Kafka topics.
• Logstash consumes, preprocesses, flattens, and adds flags to the data from Kafka.
• Processed data is sent to Amazon OpenSearch in Multi-AZ for high availability and security.
• Two indexes, VCU and MCU, are created for different data streams, with a 30-day retention policy.
• Pre-processed data is stored in Amazon S3 for batch processing and historical analysis in compressed JSON format.
• Grafana creates interactive real-time dashboards for enhanced data visualization from OpenSearch.
Amazon OpenSearch and Grafana provided a real-time, scalable solution with 1-2 second latency, 10% cost savings, 40% faster issue resolution, enhanced security, and a 50% increase in efficiency.
