S & I Engineering Solutions’ HiFUN, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, is currently restricted to Linux desktops and relies heavily on local compute and memory resources. This limitation slows down large simulations, especially MESH files, leading to the need for a cloud-based version to complement the desktop application.
• Deployed EC2 with AWS ParallelCluster for consistent, scalable cluster setups.
• Automated workflow with Lambda and Step Functions for ParallelCluster creation, HiFUN installation, and server detail notifications.
• Activated HiFUN via S3-uploaded file and processed mesh files on the cluster, with results stored in S3.
• Users submitted jobs through the frontend; ParallelCluster handled compute provisioning, job execution, and output file generation.
Reduced processing time by 40% with HPC and AWS ParallelClusters, improving application performance and scalability.
